What is TRUST?
Have you
considered deeply what trust really is?
Is TRUST the predictability of a persons behaviour toward us that gives us a sense of security and therefore the certainty that this behaviour would be repeated in the future? Or is trust about our emotional courageousness to expose our vulnerabilities to those we love with the expectation that they will not take advantage of our expression? The answer is yes to both. As part of the human experience, this is an essential psychological and emotional requirement in order to feel healthy.
Now here comes the “but”.
That’s not
the kind of trust that is on the table here. Sit with it for a moment. Consider
how predictable anything is in life; our relationships, children,
circumstances, attitudes. Everything
changes. We are attached to outcomes and when a person or situation
changes, we feel destroyed as they (or the situation) no longer live up to our
expectations.
So for a moment go into yourself, ask “Do I trust?”
I invite you to avoid conceptualizing, or attaching your trust to things or people. Simply go within.
Does it scare you when you realize that there is nothing you can trust? Did you feel discomfort?
Stay with it for a moment longer –

There is something you can trust, isn’t there?
That is the TRUST I am speaking of.

Take a minute and sit with this.
If you immediately notice that you “think” about trust, consider for a moment if you are “trusting” or “judging”.
Shift that energy to your heart chakra.
It feels different doesn’t it? Do you feel there is a genuine sense of “okayness” in that energy?
Ok. Good.
The Path of Least Resistance.
The true
essence of this phrase eluded me for years. Intellectually, I though it to be
the “easiest” path. 'Easiest' implying the ‘common route’ with less obstacles, or
expected obstacles. It is the path we are all conditioned into thinking is
the only path that we must take.
It was an enormous paradigm shift initially in recognizing that the distinction between ‘easy’ and ‘least resistance’ was vast. (I blame the scotoma in my eye!)

Easy: ‘achieved
without great effort; presenting few difficulties.’
Resistance: ‘the
refusal to accept or comply with something; the attempt to prevent something by
action or argument.’
Feel the
word resistance for a moment.
Likely there is something that comes up immediately for you that you resist. How do you feel about yourself when you think of what it is you are resisting? Does it make you feel free or does it make you feel otherwise? Do you feel good about it? Do you find you are coming up with good reasons as to why you are resisting? Have you taken a moment to feel out what it would be like to not resist? Probably not, or maybe you have and you don’t like the discomfort that comes from considering it.
We are
talking about “least resistance” though aren’t we? Hold onto that for a moment.
Wow, when we have been largely guided in our lives by what we don’t want…it’s a mind-bender to move into a place of
guidance by what we do want.
What am I resisting?
“Fear begins and ends with the desire to be secure; inward and outward security, with the desire to be certain, to have permanency. The continuity of permanence is sought in every direction, in virtue, in relationship, in action, in experience, in knowledge, in outward and inward things. To find security and be secure is the everlasting cry. It is this insistent demand that breeds fear.” – Jiddhu Krishnamurti

It is a core
human need to feel certain. How we obtain that certainty is dependent on our
upbringing, our unique set of beliefs, values and motivations. Uncertainty is
also a core human need. Our lives are routine, scheduled, and cyclical and if
we didn’t break away from it from time to time it becomes tedious and feels
stagnant. However, taking the vacation, climbing the mountain or finding the
relationship doesn’t always ease that yearning for what it really is that we
are seeking. Doing those activities temporarily provides relief – and the
yearning always returns once the glow has gone.
You have something inside you that absolutely needs to be expressed. It is what is uniquely you and only you have the ability to give it. Earlier I asked you to feel your resistance: What was it that came up for you?
I am willing to bet that this is the ‘unchartered course’ of your life that only you can discover. It is the place you need to step into, though it terrifies you and thrills you at the same time. The uncertainty of it all is paralyzing and that plays into your resistance, so you come up with ways to rationalize and justify your inaction.

“The quality of our
lives is directly related to the amount of uncertainty we can live with
comfortably.” – Tony Robbins
What am I trusting?
The path of
least resistance lies in taking the first step, placing TRUST in something that
exists within you and penetrating that resistance with courage and certainty
that whatever the outcome - YOU. WILL.
BE. OK.
It’s important to scale this back to everything
that was in place before you came to this body, this place and this life.
Regardless of what you call it; God, Creator, Gaia, Divine Consciousness – this
is the very essence of life that has supported every single individual that
formed the pathway to you, right here, right now.By definition this is the only veracious and integral thing there is.
It is undeniable that there is a force that enables the larger expression of LIFE, from the deep cosmos to the space between electrons that form the basic matter of every single thing.
This force is within YOU.
TRUST that.
Always in much love and GRATITUDE.
